The former minister and Telugu Desam leader, Mr Talasani Srinivas Yadav, who revolted against the party president, Mr N. Chandrababu Naidu, returned to the TD and denied that he was joining the Congress. In another development, four TD MLAs, Mr Linga Reddy (Prodattur), Mr Yellareddy (Narayanpet), Mr Narayan Reddy (Markapuram) and Mr Palle Raghunath Reddy (Puttaparti) denied media reports that they were joining the Congress and accused the ruling party of spreading false rumours against the TD MLAs to create confusion in the party.
Mr Yadav, who was to appear before a three member disciplinary committee in NTR Trust Bhavan at 11 am, rushed to Mr Naidu’s house at 9.30 am. He was kept waiting for over an hour before the TD chief met him. Mr Yadav reportedly denied media reports about joining the Congress and told Mr Naidu that he would continue to serve the TD.“I am with the TD. I might have overplayed the issue, but I have no intention of leaving the party. I never said I will join Congress. I am satisfied with the outcome of the talks. I will work to strengthen the party,” Mr Srinivas Yadav said after meeting Mr Naidu, leaving party leaders stunned at his U-turn.
TD sources suspect that the Mr Yadav returned to the party as he could not clinch a good deal with the Congress. A mayor’s post was one of the baits, it is learnt. Mr Yadav had held a luncheon meeting with a select group of mediapersons at a private club wherein he gave enough indications that he was joining the Congress.
