Arrested TDP MLA admitted to hospital


TDP legislator T V Rama Rao, who was arrested on charges of allegedly harassing girl students of a nursing institute being run by him in West Godavari district, was admitted to a hospital in Guntur after he complained of chest pain. The legislator complained of chest pain and uneasiness after he was remanded to judicial custody till August 3 by a magistrate court at Eluru last evening. Rao was admitted to the cardiology ward of a government hospital here in the early hours on Tuesday and went through ECG and cardiogram tests, doctors attending on him said. Cardiologist Dr B K Arjun, who examined him after the tests, said his condition is stable adding "he has no heart problems." Earlier, Rao was admitted to district hospital at Eluru and then transferred to the medical university general hospital in Vijayawada, police said. As no cardiologist was available in Vijayawada hospital, he was referred to Guntur government hospital. The legislator has been booked under relevant sections of IPC like punishment for wrongful restraint (Section 341), criminal intimidation (Section 506), assault or criminal force to a woman with an intent to outrage her modesty (Section 354), after allegations that he made attempts to outrage the modesty of some nursing students in the institute.
