Andhra Pradesh High Court’s order on Wednesday staying the conduct of elections to the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation has given a lot of relief to the Telugu Desam Party, which is totally unprepared for the polls.
The TDP leaders say it is a moral victory for them, because the High Court found fault with the government in reservation of wards for the BCs in the GHMC, particularly inclusion of Muslims in the BCs. Since the court deferred the next hearing by another three weeks, the elections are as good as postponed.
Though the GHMC authorities say they would move the Supreme Court to vacate the stay, it might not possible immediately. Which means, there would be no polls in the near future!
