AP Aviation Corporation says that helicopter is expected to have an Emergency Locating Transmitter (ELT) fitted to the aircraft body. The ELT would start emitting distress signals in the event of a crash. This would have helped the authorities to pinpoint the location of the chopper, if it had crashed or had force-landed in an interior place. Some experts are guessing that due to the fact of no distress signal it might have been landed somewhere.

Army has pressed into service two helicopters and five more private helicopters are also searching for the missing helicopter of the CM. The visibility is poor and so there has been no success so far in tracing the helicopter of the CM.

Updated at 01:00 PM The helicopter carrying Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhar Reddy today left from Hyderabad at 8.45 AM and went missing on its way to Chittoor district. An army chopper has been despatched to comb the forest area of Kurnool district, where it is said to have disappeared. Ealier in the afternoon, the chopper lost all radio contact and alarmed state dept officials swung into action. All the police stations in Kurnool district were put on high alert and police parties despatched to locate the missing helicopter.
