Chiranjeevi objects to information on film remuneration

Praja Rajyam president K. Chiranjeevi has objected to furnishing details of remuneration paid to him by various film producers, as sought by former legislator Gone Prakash Rao under the Right to Information Act, as ‘it amounts to invasion of privacy’.

M. Sivajothi, Central Public Information Officer and Deputy Commissioner of Income-Tax, Media Circle II, Chennai, in his reply to Mr. Rao’s plea, said the request for information was rejected in view of the norms laid down under provisions of the Act. Significantly, he stated, “there is no denying the fact that the information sought for does not directly concern the applicant.”

However, the official said Mr. Rao could file an appeal before the Additional Commissioner of Income-Tax, Media Range, Chennai, within 30 days of the receipt of the order.
