Nellore (AP), Jan 4 : Slamming forcible acquisition of lands for SEZs, actor-turned-politician Chiranjeevi today said his Praja Rajyam Party would strive for protection of interests of farmers. "They will not be able to acquire lands using force. They cannot set up SEZs at their will. Praja Rajyam will stand by the farmers," he said kicking off his mass-contact programme in Nellore district today. "It is unacceptable if the labour laws are not made applicable in SEZs. Praja Rajyam would see that all labour laws are made applicable in the SEZs," he said, Hitting out at Congress leaders for their attack on him and Praja Rajyam, Chiranjeevi said the more the ruling party tried to suppress him, the more powerful he would become. Defending his actor-brother Pavan Kalyan, who has been served a legal notice by Energy Minister Shabbir Ali over certain remarks made against him, Chiranjeevi reminded that it was the Congress leaders who heaped abuses on him. "What is wrong in what he (Kalyan) said. They got angry over Kalyan's remarks and attacked our office. Is this democracy. People will teach them a lesson," he said. The Congress was trying to suppress his party but would not succeed, he asserted. "The more you try to suppress us, we will raise like a spring, like a ball banged against the floor," he said. Chiranjeevi reminded that it was the Congress leaders who called him a 'Shani (inauspicious) leader'. "They called me a shani leader. They said I was selling blood. That is how they looked at the charitable blood bank run by us," he said.
