Balakrishna said he is ready to toss his hat into the ring for a face-off with Chiranjeevi in the 2009 polls. He however added that the final say on the matter will be on the directions made by the TDP’s high command. He made this statement while addressing a massive rally in Hindupur. Balakrishna repeatedly evoked NTR’s name in his speech and said social justice, law and order were his primary objectives. He said he has come into politics to fulfill NTR’s objectives. The matinee idol clearly stated that CM’s chair was not his goal and views expressed by Tarakaratna were his personal views and should be treated as such. He reminded the audience that it was NTR who first implemented the concept of social justice in the state. He blasted the Congress as a party that was mired in corruption and favoritism. He also touched upon the subject of his elder sister Purandareswari and said she was always welcome to join the TDP.
