Chiranjeevi gets crowd from TN

Nellore, Jan. 4: Thin crowds for the maiden visit of the Praja Rajyam president Chiranjeevi to Nellore forced the organisers to mobilise people from neighbouring villages of Tamil Nadu. Chiranjeevi arrived at the Panamgadu village on the AP-Tamil Nadu border after a delay of over three hours.

Sources said that the delay was deliberate due to lack of sufficient crowds. Around 500 people reached the venue when they came to know that the PR chief had come. Local leaders from Nellore came with banners and vehicles at around 9 am.

Some women PR workers told the pujari at Hanuman temple to be ready with arathi darshan for their leader when he came. After waiting for an hour, half the crowd, mostly from the Tamil Nadu vanished. Chiranjeevi could arrive only at 12.40 pm. Even then, he could not get inside the temple as the gathering got choked at the entrance. The priest brought the arathi outside the temple for Chiranjeevi.

In view of the ban on road shows, the convoy was limited to just three vehicles, including the escort jeeps till Sullurpet. After performing puja at the temple of goddess Changalamma, he reached the high school grounds in the Praja Ankitaha Ratham and addressed the gathering. Most of the crowd who were waiting for Chiranjeevi had already left when he arrived. There were about 5,000 people who attended the meeting.
