Vizag land will stay with Satyam - CM

Braving criticism from the opposition, the C M has said that the 50-acre land given to Satyam near Visakhapatnam will not be taken back. He reasoned his decision by stating that the land was given to an institution and the acts of an individual will have no bearing on the decision. “The land was given to Satyam Computers, a company, and not to an individual. Satyam has been a prestigious company. It is the management that has defrauded the company. I do not see any reason for the government to cancel the allotment to the company. It’s the policy of this government that land be given to IT companies wanting to set up offices in the state at a concessional rate. We have also given 550 acres to Infosys, another IT company at similar concessional rates.’’ This statement of the CM is in direct contrast with the finance minister Rosaiah’s statement that the A P Government would take back the 50-acre prime land, as the possession formalities were yet to be completed.
