Chandrababu Naidu, KCR and Left leaders meet Pratibha

HYDERABAD: Leaders of Telugu Desam, TRS and the Left called on President Pratibha Patil at Rashtrapathi Nilayam here on Monday evening and urged her to ensure the removal of six Ministers from the Andhra Pradesh Cabinet for their alleged involvement in the scam relating to the Fisheries Department.

TDP president N. Chandrababu Naidu, TRS president K. Chandrasekhar Rao, CPI(M) State secretary B.V. Raghavulu and CPI leader K. Narayana, submitted a memorandum to the President to this effect.

They also requested the President to constitute a Special Court exclusively on the issue for speedy trial and to punish the guilty.

The memorandum also sought the removal of Chief Secretary to the government and principal secretaries and other senior officers involved in the case.

The leaders urged her to prevent tampering of files and enable Opposition parties to examine all relevant records and files.

‘Sordid saga’

Stating that they were constrained to bring to her knowledge the state of affairs plaguing Andhra Pradesh since the government headed by Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy assumed office, they said, “We feel it is highly incumbent on us to unfold before you the sordid saga of unbridled corruption, nepotism, competitive dishonesty, brazen selfishness, naked pursuit of power and privilege and unconstitutional acts of commission and omission which became rampant in the last four-and-a-half years.”
