Left ready to compromise

Hyderabad, Jan. 4: The Left parties on Sunday announced that the seat-sharing with the Telugu Desam would be smooth and mutually beneficial. The state secretaries of Communist Party of India and Communist Party of India (Marxist) Mr K. Narayana and Mr B.V. Raghavulu met here and discussed the alliance. Maintaining that they were hopeful of the Telangana Rashtra Samiti joining the alliance, the two leaders said they were ready for any adjustments with the partners to defeat the Congress.

The Left leaders also made it clear that there would not be any friendly contests between the two parties unlike in the past when parties fielded respective candidates in case of disagreement over seat sharing. We had preliminary talks on seat sharing which will continue after Sankranti, Mr Raghavulu pointed out.

Mr Narayana said the district level political conventions held by the TD and Left parties were yielding results and this would help in smooth transfer of vote among the alliance partners. The CPI secretary accused the Chief Minister, Dr Y.S. Rajasekhar Reddy, of protecting the big fishes involved in the Suryanarayana scam.

Describing the outcome of polls to local bodies as a bitter lesson for the Chief Minister, the Left leaders alleged that he made the ministers scapegoats for his failure. They clarified that the parties had no difference of opinion on who should contest from Nalgonda and Bhongir Lok Sabba seats.
