Cine actor and prominent TDP leader Nandamuri Balakrishna made a whirlwind tour of Anantpur district. Addressing huge rallies on his multi-stop tour of the district, the matinee idol promised the people that he would deliver social justice to all sections of the society irrespective of caste, creed and gender. In an emotional speech in Penukonda the actor said that the TDP had given prime importance to BCs in the district. He asked them to stand by his side in the coming polls and in return he promised them he would protect them by taking their interests to his heart. The reception that Balakrishna received in Paritala Ravi’s birthplace in Penukonda was beyond the expectations of even the most optimistic TDP workers. They recalled that the last time a TDP leader received this kind of welcome was when NTR toured the district in 1983. Balakrishna appealed to the crowd to weigh the options in front of them before casting their vote. The Congress he said had perpetuated dynastic politics and its leaders were busy transferring state’s money to their bosses in Delhi.
