One can always trust Nandamuri Balakrishna to speak his mind on any subject whatsoever. Addressing a press conference near Gadwal in Mahabubnagar district the firebrand TDP leader said that there was a historical antecedent for demanding a separate Telengana. In the same breath the actor rubbished the demand for a separate Rayalsaseema. He stated that it was a pure political gimmick played out by petty leaders who had no knowledge of the circumstances in which the state of Andhra Pradesh came into being. Balakrishna’s disarmingly honest approach is proving to be a big hit with the crowds. In his speeches the actor is often too willing to deviate from a prepared text. In fact sources close to him have observed that he seldom has a prepared text and does most of his speeches extempore. For an actor who recently ventured into politics Balayya (as he is affectionately called) is surprisingly well informed of the political dynamics of the places he visits and makes it a point to interact with all the key members in a constituency.
