Somireddy Chandramohan Reddy’s fast unto death on the issue of cancelling the GO related to diverting Somasila water to Rayalaseema has entered a critical phase. The TDP leader from Nellore has been on a 3-day fast near Gandhi statue at Trunk Road in Nellore. On learning that his health was deteriorating fast, the state administration moved in on the early hours of today and shifted him to the government hospital in Nellore. All the opposition parties condemned the state government’s act and said the Congress leaders should pressurize the CM to cancel the GO. Somireddy’s fast has generated a lot of sympathy for the TDP in Nellore. The Somasila water diversion is an emotive issue for the local population and a leader willing to lay down his life on that grounds has generated a lot of buzz in the political circles in the district.
