All political parties seem to have gone into complete poll mode as was evident from the presentations and claims they made on day one of the brief vote-on-account session of the state assembly.
Chief minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy on Monday, in an informal chat with the media, predicted that the grand alliance will neither help the Left nor the TDP. "The two Left parties will be the worst sufferers in the 2009 elections. Congress will emerge victorious with 230 assembly and 33 Lok Sabha seats", he said.
According to a survey by the party, TRS vote bank had eroded by 4.5 per cent in Telangana region and this would be transferred to PRP. TRS will be taught a lesson and the bubble of its claim that they are the sole representatives of T sentiment would burst soon.
The CM said that out of the 175 assembly seats in Andhra and Rayalaseema region, PRP and TDP would together win only 25 seats. "In North coastal region, East and West Godavari, PRP would win 8 and TDP 4 out of a total of 68 seats. In Rayalaseema, barring Anantapur and Kuppam which is represented by N Chandrababu Naidu, Congress will sweep the polls", he said.
Asked about Telangana, Reddy said that the party was strong in Mahbubnagar, Ranga Reddy, Hyderabad, Nalgonda and Khammam districts. "TRS would give some fight in parts of Medak, Warangal and Khammam," he added.
Replying to another question, he denied that he was against T sentiment. "I am not against T sentiment. What ever I had to say I have told the party leadership and Sonia Gandhi," Reddy said.
